The SDS-PAGE gel compares bovine, feline, equine, rabbit, and swine IFN gamma proteins. The proteins were all expressed in yeast so post-translational modifications are present. Although the unmodified forms of the proteins are calculated to be similar, it is obvious that there are differences between species, which may account for the species specificity that is commonly noted in the scientific literature.
