The homology of mature IFN gamma across 8 species was evaluated. Equine and Bovine IFN gamma exhibited the highest homology (80.4%). Equine and Bovine IFN gamma also looked similar on SDS-PAGE gel analysis. The homology between human and mouse IFN gamma and the other species is quite low. This information gives further credence for species-specific bioassays.
